Assessment

Evidence of learning judged against stated criteria

Assessment is used only where the programme purpose requires a defensible judgement about learning; the task and standard are disclosed before enrolment.

Assessment design

Tasks are aligned to the published learning outcomes and use the least burdensome method capable of producing valid evidence. Formats may include analytical memoranda, case work, models, presentations or controlled knowledge checks.

Criteria and marking

Criteria describe the features of satisfactory work. Marking records the decision and sufficient reasons to support feedback, moderation and any permitted procedural review.

Authenticity and responsible AI use

Participants must submit their own work and disclose permitted assistance. Programme instructions state whether and how generative AI, collaboration, external data or workplace material may be used. Fabricated sources, concealed substitution and unauthorised assistance are misconduct.

Moderation

Sampling, second marking or independent moderation is used where judgement, cohort consistency or the consequence of the result warrants additional assurance.

Resit, adjustment and appeal

The confirmed programme terms state any resit opportunity and fee. Reasonable adjustments protect access without lowering the assessed outcome. Appeals address material procedural error, unmanaged conflict or demonstrable marking irregularity, not disagreement alone.
