Financial Analysis and Valuation

A disciplined programme in corporate financial analysis, forecasting, valuation and the communication of conclusions under uncertainty.

Programme purpose

The programme develops a structured approach to interpreting financial information, constructing defensible forecasts, selecting valuation methods and explaining where analytical conclusions are sensitive to assumptions.

Intended participants

It is intended for finance professionals, managers, founders and analysts who use corporate financial statements or valuation outputs. Familiarity with basic accounting terminology is recommended; any specific preparation is stated for the confirmed cohort.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion, participants should be able to:

  • Interpret the relationships among the primary financial statements
  • Assess earnings quality, cash conversion, working capital and financing structure
  • Develop transparent operating and financial forecasts
  • Apply discounted cash-flow and market-based valuation methods
  • Perform sensitivity and scenario analysis
  • Present an analytical conclusion with assumptions, risks and limitations

Curriculum

The curriculum covers financial reporting interpretation; ratio and cash-flow analysis; quality of earnings; forecasting; cost of capital; enterprise and equity value; discounted cash flow; trading and transaction multiples; scenario analysis; and the structure of a professional analytical report.

Learning and assessment

Designed learning time is 50–60 hours. Assessment uses corporate or fictional case material and requires an analytical memorandum supported by transparent calculations. It does not require or permit a personalised recommendation concerning an individual’s investment circumstances.

Regulatory boundary and certificate status

The programme is education in corporate analysis and valuation. It does not provide investment advice, recommend financial products or confer financial adviser status. The EAB certificate is proprietary and non-regulated.
